Oaked++: A Tribute to Tradition and Strength

"When will you be offering an ultra-high proof bottling?" This question, often posed (sometimes demanded – Jimmy) by a devoted group of underground rum enthusiasts who love the bold and intense flavors imparted by high-alcohol rums and cane spirits. Initially cautious about venturing into the realm of ultra-high alcohol rums, we found ourselves drawn to the challenge of satisfying the discerning palates of these rum aficionados.

To meet the challenge, we chose to age our award-winning Silver Cane Spirit in two 60-liter ex-JimmyRum Oaked barrels (#89 & #95) at a “slightly robust” 75.0% alcohol by volume (ABV). After patiently allowing the spirits to mature for 560 days, we pulled it when it struck a harmonious balance between a rich spirit profile and subtle oak undertones. The final blend boasts 74.8% ABV and with a sacrificial 7.6% evaporation loss to the Angel’s share, we were able to bottle 90 x 500ml bottles. Each bottle from this distinctive batch is a collector’s item, serving as a testament to our craftsmanship and a respectful nod to a high-proof rum-making tradition.

Oaked++ is more than just a rum; it serves as a homage to the celebrated an Australian rum, the Inner Circle “Black dot" rum, known for its 75%+ ABV. Every bottle is sealed and branded with black wax, symbolizing the strength and complexity encapsulated within.
